The Coronavirus Crisis as an Opening for Transformative Change

Moments of social crisis open up opportunities to advance radical forms of change that would be impossible in normal times. Neoliberals and conservatives have learned this lesson well, taking advantage of crises to advance their ideas and policies. They have driven us into a series of crises, from the financial crisis of 2008 and Hurricane Katrina to crisis-level struggles over racial politics and the crisis of the coronavirus epidemic. As a result – they have reshaped our economy, our government and our society to reflect the interests of the super-rich.
