Hashim is a father, spouse, and revolutionary. As a mixed-race Black kid growing up in the highly segregated city of Milwaukee, WI, Hashim developed a conscious awareness of structural racism from an early age. His passion for transformative social change is fueled by a lifetime of experiencing and witnessing the violence of oppression and exploitation as well as a deep faith in the capacity of human joy and resilience. He comes to GPP with over 15 years experience in activism and organizing, having worked alongside brilliant comrades at the Miami Workers Center, Power U Center for Social Change, and the Funders’ Collaborative on Youth Organizing. In this phase of his political life, Hashim is particularly interested in helping organizations carry out long-term strategies to build the kind of progressive power capable of achieving radical political and economic democracy in the United States
