Jacob Swenson-Lengyel is a narrative strategist, social movement communicator, and writer. He got his start in organizing on the South Side of Chicago following the 2008 economic crash. For over a decade, Jacob has worked with organizations at the intersection of big ideas and collective action. Growing up in an evangelical church, he saw early on the power that worldviews hold to both liberate and oppress. During his time at Narrative Initiative, Pennsylvania Stands Up, and People’s Action, he supported alignments with crafting shared narrative strategies, developing powerful leaders, and building their muscles to shape common sense. Jacob’s writing has appeared in a wide variety of progressive and mainstream publications and he is a member of the editorial board of Convergence magazine. He holds an A.M. in philosophy from University of Chicago, where he spent five years studying the unity of ethics and politics in Aristotle. He’s grateful for the mentorship and camaraderie of Richard Healey, Libero Della Piana, Harmony Goldberg, George Goehl, Max Elbaum, Joseph Phalen, Jee Kim, Jonathan Smucker, Dave Mann, and many others.
